Children who eat fish at least once a week sleep better and have IQ scores that are 4 points higher, on average, than those who consume fish less frequently or not at all, according to new findings from the University of Pennsylvania recently published in Scientific Reports, a Nature journal.


During an interview this week on the Frankie Boyer show about depression, she asked me what were, in my opinion the top 3 causes of depression-my response diet, stress and physical inactivity. Diet plays a significant role in our brain function. Dietary factors should always be addressed when managing depression, as evidence demonstrates that various aspects of diet can affect the disorder.


A diet rich in fish, fruits, and vegetables, with moderate consumption of alcohol, and low in dairy products has been associated with lower levels of inflammation and endothelial dysfunction.  It is however not clear as to how the consumption of these food roots affect endothelial dysfunction and/or low-grade inflammation over time.
