Pomegranates are one of the healthiest foods we can eat, primarily because of the positive impact they have on heart health.
Scientists are now studying pomegranate extract to uncover the many advantages it may have for human health. Pomegranates contain an array of beneficial phytonutrients such as phenolic compounds and tannins, including punicalagins that are found only in pomegranates. Several compounds in pomegranates are potent antioxidants can also reduce the blood pressure.
Research shows that oxidation, a byproduct of our cells’ metabolism can disrupt the balance of blood vessels constricting and relaxing biochemicals in the lining of the arteries and contribute its dysfunction and high blood pressure.
By stopping oxidative stress, antioxidants may help prevent vasoconstriction, lower blood pressure, and promote healthy artery function. Scientists believe that pomegranates, a potent source of antioxidants, may promote healthy blood pressure levels by enhancing the activity and preventing the degradation of an important vasodilating agent.
