On July 23, 2015, the US House of Representatives passed HR 1599, auspiciously named, “The safe and Accurate Food Labeling Act, “more commonly called, the DARK act (Deny Americans the Right to Know).

Citizens from every state protested and rallied against this law.  Despite heavy, grass roots opposition, the measure passed 275-150.

This law specifically overrides state’s rights to create their own GMO food labeling laws and, if also passed by the Senate, will block Vermont’s fist of its kind, GMO labeling law, set to take effect in late October.

This law prevents Americans right to accurate information about the processed food we consume.

The law even calls for the development of a USDA non-GO certification program, akin to the National Organic Program-shifting the burden and cost over to those who want to declare their foods are not GMO!

Keeping in mind that a recent study found GMO soy contains a cancer causing chemical-formaldehyde.

The choice is ours—if the food we buy isn’t properly labeled, and we don’t know what we’re eating, perhaps it is in your best interest to stop purchasing the questionable food products.

We always have a choice to do what is right and healthy for our bodies. I simply choose health and healthy foods-organic and I make a lot of my own condiments. To the best of my ability, I avoid processed foods.  Not just because they contain GMOs, but numerous food additives, that can harm our health. I urge you to consider doing the same.  Your health is worth it!!
